Today, one person in two, male or female, claims to be affected by dandruff problems, i.e. 50% of the population between the ages of 18 and 50.

Dandruff is a real problem that has more aesthetic consequences, with deposits on clothes or flakes at the roots, than health consequences. However, the appearance of dandruff reflects a disturbance in the body's internal balance.

Follow our advice to combat this problem effectively.

What is dandruff?

The scalp is protected from external aggression and dehydration by a layer of sebum. When this sebum layer is depleted and secretion becomes insufficient, the skin loses its suppleness and dries out. The scalp becomes irritated, tightness is felt, irritation begins and small lumps of skin appear: this is dry dandruff. This dandruff falls off and becomes unsightly.

Conversely, if the sebum layer thickens and is not gradually eliminated, the skin is suffocated and thick, yellow scales appear: this is oily dandruff. They tend to cling to the hair, forming larger or smaller patches.

When you have dandruff, the renewal process of epidermal cells accelerates from 21 days to 5/6 days. The cells are unable to eliminate themselves efficiently and regularly, which is noticeable and creates clumps on the scalp.

Why do we get dandruff?

There are many reasons for dandruff.

We're talking aboutupset emotional states such as anxiety, stress, depression, overwork, but also factors such as heredity, digestive problems, hormonal imbalance, improper use of hair products, poor hygiene, aggressive coloring....

There are also medical causes, such as eczema or psoriasis.

How do you get rid of them?

dandruffFor Christophe Nicolas Biotdandruff is first and foremost an internal problem. It cannot be repeated often enough that what happens on the inside shows on the outside.

To treat a dandruff problem, you need to treat your inner balance without having to use a very aggressive anti-dandruff shampoo, especially when you don't know how to distinguish between dry and oily dandruff. If you do, you run the risk of doing the opposite of what you should be doing.

To treat dandruff, you have to deal with the underlying problems. This will take time and patience, but it's worth it. Never forget that hair mirrors the body.

In fact, Christophe Nicolas Biot prefers to speak of apellicular state rather than dandruff. He feels the term is more accurate. It's more a reflection ofan irritated, abused and/or stressed scalp.

Treating this condition requires gentleness, but also time and patience. The gentler you are with your hair and body, the less dandruff you suffer.

Gentle treatment detoxes the body and cleanses the scalp with purifying oxygenation.

If, instead of improving, symptoms worsen after a month, don't hesitate to consult a dermatologist, as your problem may go deeper.

How to prevent dandruff?

  • The first thing is to adopt a healthy lifestyle and eat a healthy diet. Avoid sugar and eat a diet rich in vitamin A and vitamin B6 to soothe irritation;
  • Avoid alcohol and tobacco, which prevent proper oxygenation of the scalp;
  • Limit stress as much as possible by getting enough sleep and setting aside periods of rest and calm;
  • Avoid oxidative stress, smoky places, polluted and confined spaces;
  • Wash your hair in lukewarm or cold water, but avoid hot or very hot water, which is harsh on the scalp;
  • Stop stressing your scalp with violent blow-drying and turn down the heat on your hair dryer;
  • Opt for plant-based hair color that is gentle on hair and scalp;
  • Be careful not to use styling products that dry out the scalp;
  • Do not rub your scalp when shampooing, but gently massage it;
  • Clean your hair accessories after use;
  • Detox to purify from the inside out.
